I logged into KLOUT, and this is what it suggests I am influential in.
If I were to read this, I would suggest they would be an early-twenties female, who likes to pump ‘Teenage Dream’ while she works out, the comes home and blogs about food while watching the latest episodes of ‘The New Girl’.
She fancies her self as an amateur photographer, having done a wedding or two, and has her own YouTube channel where she talks about her fresh food recipies.
It all sounds fair enough, then I realise that it is me.

NT Day 1.
*apologies for poor spelling, grammar and punctuation in advance*
Its Tumblr time
I have clocked up a ridiculous amount of kilometers in the last few days, and it has left me sitting in a little donga (one bedroom flat) in the kadiya (white fella) part of Lajamanu, Northern Territory.
The weather here is beyond perfect. its 10pm, and Im here outside in shorts and singlet looking at the extra 3 billion stars you cannot see from anwhere in Victoria. There is red dust in absolutely everything I own.
Yesterday I travelled from Melbourne to Alice Springs, then the 800 kilometers across dirt road and road trains to get here. The smell as soon as I got off the plane was one of freshness and cleanness. A number of friends moved to Alice several years ago and I regret not visiting earlier.
On the trip I had an epiphany about an old service station, It’s about bands and profiles. I might save that for another time. It is so refreshing to get away from the day-to-day bullshit and the music scene which I love and hate in equal measures.
Lajamanu is a community of the Walpiri people, a dry (no grog) community and relatively peaceful.
One thing I have came to learn about over the last few years is their system of ‘Skin’ and how fascinating it is. My parents - being residents of the town, and having a respect and connection with the local elders - have recieved skin names - which is similar to surnames, and is an amazingly simple - but rather complex system of knowing how each other is related to prevent marriages too close.
Due to my parents skin name, I recieved the name Jakamarra. It is an amazing privilage, and automatically shows my standing among other members of the community. The guy who lives across the road is my uncle, this lady is your JaJa (grandma), and this person is your brother. So it goes on.
I have had the ladies of the community (a number who I have met prior) tell me “ohhh Jakamarra, we need to find you a nice Napiljarri, yes?” A Napiljarri is a female skin name, and the one that is most suited to marrying a Jakamarrra. If I was to marry a kardia, her name would automatically be Napiljarri. Ladies?
I think I most nervous about potientially offending them or their culture. There are people I shouldnt speak too, areas I cannot go and certain things that they just dont talk about. Mostly they are shy to people who they do not know, but I am enjoying taking everything in and cannot wait for singalong tomorrow night, then bush hunting the day after. This afternoon I had a jam with a gent named Desmond one of the town musos. I met Desmond (who is an uncle) when he visited Melbourne not long ago. His natural timing was 10 beats to the bar I think. Once I clicked on it was great to hear his and his wife’s voice.
Enough of this ramble, You are probbably waiting for the next cat/tv show/tattoo/model/porn post to roll by your feed.
